A Forum on e-Assessment in Secondary, Tertiary and Workplace Education
When: Wednesday 7th May 2008
Where: EMFEC, Robins Wood House, Aspley, Nottingham
EVENT IN CONTEXT
This forum was organized by the e-Assessment Association in conjunction with ABC Awards in order to highlight the benefits of e-Assessment and to explore issues in its development and use in two broad areas of education: Secondary/Tertiary HE; and Tertiary FE/Workplace. This event was part of a series of fora being held across the UK under the auspices of the e-Assessment Association. This forum discussed the main features in the relevant sector led by a well-known exponent in the field and gather informed views through discussion under the guidance of experienced facilitators. The embryonic e-Assessment Association has three major goals for its community: to provide professional support for workers in this field of expertise, to work collaboratively with members and national organisations to create and communicate the positive contribution that technologies can make to assessment methods and produce a statement of good practice for commercial vendors of e-Assessment. This present event will conclude by establishing a special interest group in e-Assessment in this part of the UK.
OBJECTIVES
This forum provided delegates with:
• present high level over views of e-Assessment in the educational sectors of Secondary/Tertiary HE and Tertiary FE/Workplace; • describe and discuss a sensible way forward in e-Assessment for these sectors; • speculate on future developments in e-Assessment; • hear from the guest speaker about the future of e-Assessment; and • form a special interest group of the e-Assessment Association in your part of the UK.
There were networking opportunities, a chance to see some demonstrations and talk to leading exponents of e-Assessment in the UK.
